I have my freedom but I don't have much time

Am I in the right place? Isn't this supposed to be a weight loss blog? I think I'm just going to call it a blog from now on because there is no weight loss happening here.

The scale read 258.4 this morning. Yup, I'm up that 0.8 pounds that I lost last week. I didn't expect much of a loss because I haven't been 100% on point. I have been lots better, but not where I need to be to be losing weight.

Thursday - no workout

See? I told you it's harder for me when the boyfriend isn't working out.

Let me take this time to apologize to my readers (if there are any left). I know some people look to weight loss blogs for motivation and inspiration. I have not been very motivating or inspirational as of late (or ever?). But I think I am like lots of people who are on this journey. We are more talk than action. We know what we need to do, but have a hard time getting it done.

But I truly believe that one day we will have THEE moment where we realize it's time to stop dicking around and finally start doing something.

I hope you guys stick around long enough so that I can share MY moment with you. =)

Why is it the smallest things that tear us down?

The party continues!!

Just kidding. I'm tired of wallowing in my self-pity. I just need to suck it up and take it like a man. I will not see results until I actually start doing something!

After yesterday's frightful eating, I knew the scale would not be happy with me. I was up 1.2 pounds for the week. But, oh no, I will not cry about it. Remember, I will not see results until I actually start doing something!

And I did get a workout in yesterday. 30 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical machine. I sweated buckets so a good workout it was, indeed.

Did you notice a new section over there -------->? Well, one of my big problems is I go through the drive-thru way too much. I also stop at the gas station or Kroger for little snacks and drinks that I really don't need. I tried not carrying money with me but that didn't work too much. So, I think I'm going to try the "shame on me" method. I'm pretty embarrassed at all the money I spend on junk food. But that's not enough to stop me. So maybe, if the entire blogging world saw how much I spent, I'd be a little less inclined to spend it. Catch my drift? This method may be totally useless but it's worth giving a shot.

My jeans were tight this morning, so I'm open to trying anything that will help me.

Enjoy your weekend. The weather will be supernice here, so I know I will!

Resolution Post

I know it's not the first of the year, but my NEW YEAR officially starts the Monday after New Year's Day. I need that weekend to recuperate and get my bearings in order.

So, Happy New Year!!

My New Year's resolutions:
1) Be happy (duh! there are a lot of subcategories under this one but overall, I just need to try my best to be truly happy)
2) Lose weight (every year this one makes it on my list, but seriously, this year I need to get rid of it once and for all.)
3) Be more organized (My life is a mess! From my car, to my closet, to my desk at work, to my underwear drawer. I know I'll be lots more happier with some order in my life.)
4) Save more moola (No explanation needed)
5) Be more girly (Face it: when you look good you feel really good. So, I want to start making more of an effort to look nice everyday. If I need to wake up half an hour earlier to make sure my make-up is nice, my hair done up, and my outfit/accessories looking good, then I should do it. I'm worth it, aren't I?)
6) Cook more (I love to cook. And I don't do it enough.)

I can feel it, it's going to be a GREAT year!

Almost fully recovered...

Thursday - Saturday No workout

Sunday - the most amazing workout I've had in a long time

I got a full blown cold this past week. Seriously, full blown. I could not for the life of me breathe through my nose. Just ask my boyfriend. I kept him up every night, all weekend with my God awful snoring (sorry boyfriend). It seems to be clearing up a bit, so I should be good by the end of the week. I sure did take the ability to breathe through TWO nostrils, at the same time, for granted.

So that is why there weren't many workouts. But I did get some time on the elliptical and some time with weights on Sunday night. It was such a great a workout, that I'm really looking forward to working out this week. The boyfriend is calling it our "Last Chance Workout". There's this family party on Saturday so it's our last chance to workout before then. Even he has added some extras to his regimen. (I'm so proud of you Boyfriend!)

I didn't make my goal this week but I'm not taking it to hard because I was sick. Sooo, I'm giving myself this week to finally lose my first 10 pounds. This week's loss was a whopping 0.4 pounds. It's an itty bitty loss, but it just got me thatmuch closer to hitting the 10 pound mark. 2.8 more to go, baby!! And it's been four months since I have gotten below 256.8 and I only got to that weight because I was super sick. So to legitimately get below 256.8 will be an amazing feeling.

I can't wait!!!

Time for drastic measures...

I finally caved.

I just wasn't doing it with eating whatever I wanted without counting calories, points, etc. So I decided to join the millions of others and count points. Yes, I am now a weight watcher.

First off, I'm not going to meetings. I would love to, but 40 bucks a month is really a luxury and I'm just not in the right place to splurge on luxuries. So I'm using material that I have from an attempt I made to follow weight watchers not too long ago. I believe it was last year. Plus, there are so many helpful tools on the internet at my disposal. Maybe, one day, I will make it official and get my butt to meetings.

Now, I am not a stranger to weight watchers. I tried it once way back when and my last feeble attempt was, like I mentioned, last year. I guess I can say my heart really wasn't in the right place so I never took full advantage of what I was paying for.

So, I'm on my first day of counting points. It's going ok so far. But it's only 10 am.

Maybe I'm speaking too soon, but I feel really good about this.

Healthy You Challenge Update #1

Unfortunately, there is no Healthy Me. For the past week, I have eaten way too much and have not exercised one bit.

I'm on track so far today (Tuesday), but until the day is over I cannot post a victory or a comeback yet.

The scale was down a bit yesterday morning, but it must have been a fluke since I've been a glorious glutton since my last weigh-in.

Here's to another shot at this.

Fresh Start?

Fresh start is my middle name.

I have been all over the place lately. I've been eating like no other and my elliptical machine is collecting dust and cobwebs.

Yesterday was a really rough day because it was the one year anniversary of my dad's passing. I just wasn't all there. I pretty much ate myself into a food coma. It's not like I ate food to comfort myself because trust me, eating until you are sick to your stomach is not comforting. I just ate and ate and then ate some more. I'm really feeling it today.

So what am I in need of (a good a** whipping, maybe?)? A fresh start, of course. I'm off to a good one this fantabulous morning. But it's only 9 in the morning and I have the whole day to make some mistakes (or not).

A weekend and a weigh-in

I haven't been able to post from home, because AT&T is full of caca and our internet is not on right now.

Friday
Breakfast: oatmeal, raisins, almonds, white chocolate chips, OJ

Lunch: rice, meatball, potato

snack: watermelon, 4 pcs. toffee-ettes (sooo good, but soo bad...so so so bad)

Me and Satan went out for dinner with his mother to celebrate my 4 year anniversary at my job. We ended up going to Whole Foods because their Fish and Chips are just as good as Atlanta Fish Market's, but waaaay cheaper!
3 pcs. fish, sauteed veggies, cole slaw, 360 black cherry soda, slice of pb chocolate cheesecake.

Gosh, that food was so yum!! I ate way less than I normally do. I didn't get that gross, bloated, food baby that usually happens when I go out to eat. :D

No exercise :(

Saturday
Breakfast: blueberry smoothie (frozen blueberries and milk and some sugar)...we had absolutely no groceries in the house!

lunch: I met up with Satan while I was out shopping. Subway 6" roast beef sandwich , Sun Chips, Dr. Pepper, 1 Double chocolate chip cookie (Subway cookies are heaven!)

Snack: coke, Fiber 1 bar

dinner: Mashed potatoes, hamburger w/sauteed onions (no bun), salad, some more coke

Later on, we headed over to Satan's friend's house and I had 1 Coronita and 1 carne asada taco

Exercise: 30 minutes on the elliptical

Again, I ate more than I should have, but way less than I normally do.

Sunday
Breakfast: none. Sunday is usually the only day me and Satan have to sleep in, together. We usually roll out of bed at noon.

Lunch: arepa, 1/2 chorizo with lime, orange juice

snack: fiber one bar, cantaloupe drizzled with honey

dinner: rice, Colombian beans, chicharron, arepa

Snack: 2 pcs of black bean brownies (These were freakin' awesome!) I need to be careful with these. It's just too easy to eat too many. Some of Satan's banana split from Brusters.

Exercise: 30 minutes on the elliptical

OK, I drank way too much soft drinks and had a little more desserts than I really should have. Buuuut, I stepped on the scale Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised!

256.8

That's 2.6 pounds down for the week. I am totally psyched with that.

This is getting easier and easier. It's only been 5 days that I've been really consciously trying to lose weight. But I can see that my mindset is changing about food. I am not constantly thinking about it. I eat my meals and that's it. End of story.

The weekends are really hard for me because that's when I tend to eat just for the hell of it. Not because I'm hungry, just because there's nothing else to do. Good thing I was busy with the grocery shopping on Saturday and the housecleaning on Sunday. Plus, I did get in that exercise on my beloved elliptical machine.

Move more, eat less has been working out for me. I know when (or if) I ever come to that dreaded plateau, I'll have to change things up a bit. But for now, this is my thing and I am totally rocking it.

Pssst...

I have a secret.

Okay, I have lots of secrets.

I don't recognize myself in the mirror anymore.

I feel so unpretty.

My underwear keep rolling under my stomach.

I'm scared of getting diabetes or dying of a heart attack (runs in the family).

I break out in a sweat for doing absolutely nothing at all.

I hate being around skinny people. Just makes me feel THAT much fatter.

I save living my life for later, for "after I lose the weight".

That is why I am here. To take control over my weight so that it doesn't control me. Life is so short, and tomorrow isn't guaranteed. I can't keep saving everything for later. I need to do it today. And I know, if I lose all this weight, I can start doing just that.

Maybe I'm wrong to let what I look like have such an impact on how I live my life but it is what it is. Maybe my way of thinking will change as time goes by, but I'm not willing to risk wasting any more time. I've wasted enough already.
