So....

I took a break this past week from weight loss. I ate what I wanted. I haven't stepped in the gym since last Tuesday. I just haven't been into it. And even though I am one hundred pounds overweight, it's OK.

But to tell you the truth, I feel awful. I'm bloated. I'm cranky. And I just don't feel right.

I still wouldn't feel right trying to get back into it, though. My head isn't there. At least not yet.

I've given myself until Saturday night. Ready or not, I need to get into weight loss mode starting Sunday morning. And the right way. So once and for all, I can lose the weight and keep it off.

Because seriously, I am starting to get sick of this blog.

What's a weight loss blog without any weight loss?

*******************************************
I finally braved the scale this morning. Up 2 pounds. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I actually thought I'd be up to 260 because of all the chips and cookies and soda I've been having. But thank gosh, it's only 2 pounds.

That's only 18,900 calories I need to burn starting on Sunday to get under the 250's.

Psssh....piece of cake. =/

Out of oblivion...

...for now.

I love me a good 3-day weekend. Sleeping until 2 in the afternoon, getting 12 hours of sleep, eating whatever I want. What's not to love? That's exactly what I did this Memorial weekend. Relaxed ate some yummy Colombian and Mexican food. And then there was some pizza too. I watched lots of movies and cuddled with the boyfriend lots. It was the perfect weekend.

But now it's back to reality. And I have to face that one pound gain that I had last week. Ugh! Last week started off so good: my eating was on point and so was my working out. But then, like always, it turned to caca. I started eating lots of junk and I only made it to the gym 3 days. 3 days?!?! That's very upsetting especially since I pay so much in fees for the gym. I loathe wasting money (no I don't).

God Bless the start of a new week!

The boyfriend has inspired (more like bullied) me into to starting a new plan. He has been doing so good on his plan and he feels great (except for his sinuses that have been bothering him). And so I was like, "Hey, I want to feel good too. I need to get in on this." It's no big secret, he's just really watching what he eats.

So, the new plan is to journal everything. No more soda (sob), junk food, or sweets. And it's back to the gym this week. It's going to be tough, especially that no soda rule, but I think I can do it. I know you all are thinking "This chick sounds like a broken record. She says this EVERY Monday." But I'm for serious this time.

Seriously. =)

Some workouts and a weigh in...

First thing to get off my chest is my weigh in. It was not a pretty one. I was up 1.2 pounds for the week. That really sucks.

I have been doing really good with the workouts. I have been to the gym every day this week and have gotten some pretty good sweat sessions in. But from that weigh in, you can tell my eating hasn't been very good. It still hasn't clicked in my head that "hey, just because I'm working out doesn't mean I can eat whatever I want." It's not that hard of a concept, but I'm a real hard head (just ask my boyfriend and my mom). So who knows when it'll start to dawn on me that if I want to see some real, true results, I'm going to have to start working on my eating.

I tried the Hip Hop class the other day. It was a big NO NO. I did not like it one bit. It started off great with the warm up but then it turned into one big routine. Now, I used to be a cheerleader (I know, hard to believe) so I am all for learning routines. But not learning them in 20 minutes! Let's just say I didn't get the routine down and I looked like a fool. It was not fun for me at all.

I was starting to think that taking classes at the gym would be a lost cause until last night. I took the Kickbox Jam class. I L-O-V-E-D it!! It was so much fun!! It wasn't so much a routine. More like a bunch of moves put together. There were times when I was lost, but I was having too much fun to really care how I looked. And I left the class drenched in sweat. This is definitely going to go on the workout regime.

I also tried a Core class last night. Big mistake. I am way too big to be taking a class like that. We had to use those balance trainers. I seriously thought I was going to pop mine. The concept of the class is a great one because I really felt the burn, but at my weight, it's just not a comfortable class for me to take. =(

So pretty much all those workouts went to waste with my eating habits. Grrr! Come on, Little Miss Fatty Pants!!! This isn't rocket science. This shouldn't be THAT hard!! What the heck am I waiting for?!?!

Who here loves Mondays?

Seriously, is there any one out there who is actually excited about Mondays?

I'm very happy to say that last week was a very productive week at the gym.

Let's see how it all went down:

Monday: 30 min. cross ramp, 15 min. treadmill, weights
Tuesday: 30 min. cross ramp, 30 min. treadmill
Wednesday: 30 min. cross ramp, 15 min. treadmill, weights
Thursday: 30 min. cross ramp, 30 min. treadmill, abs
Friday: 15 min. cross ramp, 15 min. treadmill, 15 min. elliptical, weights and abs
Saturday: 15 min. cross ramp, 15 min. treadmill, weights and abs
Sunday: Rest Day

I'm pretty sure that's how it went. I really should write down what it is that I'm doing each day. That way I don't forget.

By the way, the cross ramp is my new best friend. It's a great workout and leaves my butt feeling all warm and tingly. Well, I think it's the cross ramp that is cause of that feeling. Or it could be walking hills on the treadmill. I dunno.

Last week's eating is a totally different story. Lots of fast food involved. But I really controlled myself on the weekend and didn't eat too badly. So, that fluff feeling is gone and I'm actually feeling pretty svelte.

I did get to weigh in on Friday morn' and the scale was up 0.4 pounds. I wasn't surprised, because like I said I ate tons of junk food last week. But I did step on the scale this morning and was surprised to see it almost back to normal. I just hope it gets a bit lower by my next weigh in.

It is T minus 3 days before the boyfriend and I hit the open road and get on our way to New York. We love us some road trips!!! In 2005, we drove from Los Angeles, CA all the way to Atlanta, GA. It was the awesomest. Google maps says it is only about 15 hours from here to New York, so not as long as our first road trip but it should still be tons of fun. I am so super excited but a bit nervous because it is a long trip and we are doing it all at once. Uh oh, that's a very scary thought.

Day 11

My arms are killing me!! And I didn't even do any arm exercises yesterday. They have been sore since my last arm workout which means it was a VERY good workout. Tonight is my strength day so bring on the pain!

Day 11's workout consisted of 20 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical. The creaking noise on the foot pedal of my machine isn't as annoying as it used to be. Especially if I have my music on really loud. I can't believe I let such a little thing stop me from getting a good sweat going.

The scale was down 0.8 pounds this morning. Yes!!! It isn't much but it's almost a pound and it's definitely in the right direction. I'm so close to being under 255 that I can taste it.

It sure tastes good!!

Day 4

Thursday nights workout was a yummy one again. Strength training: arms, legs, and abs; and 20 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical. I seriously love this workout.

I was much better with my snacking at work, too. I didn't eat so much. Maybe because I kept myself so busy at work. I guess that's the secret! I didn't have time to think about food. And if I'm not thinking about it, I ain't eating it!

It's still rainy outside. The sun hasn't been out in 3 days! But it is Friday, so it's going to be a great day!!

Oh yeah...

...I forgot.

I was up 0.8 pounds this week. Eeeek. But I ate way too much this week for there to be a loss so I'm not really surprised.

And to top it all off...fluffy days are back again. =(

At least I have another week to try again!

Why is it the smallest things that tear us down?

The party continues!!

Just kidding. I'm tired of wallowing in my self-pity. I just need to suck it up and take it like a man. I will not see results until I actually start doing something!

After yesterday's frightful eating, I knew the scale would not be happy with me. I was up 1.2 pounds for the week. But, oh no, I will not cry about it. Remember, I will not see results until I actually start doing something!

And I did get a workout in yesterday. 30 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical machine. I sweated buckets so a good workout it was, indeed.

Did you notice a new section over there -------->? Well, one of my big problems is I go through the drive-thru way too much. I also stop at the gas station or Kroger for little snacks and drinks that I really don't need. I tried not carrying money with me but that didn't work too much. So, I think I'm going to try the "shame on me" method. I'm pretty embarrassed at all the money I spend on junk food. But that's not enough to stop me. So maybe, if the entire blogging world saw how much I spent, I'd be a little less inclined to spend it. Catch my drift? This method may be totally useless but it's worth giving a shot.

My jeans were tight this morning, so I'm open to trying anything that will help me.

Enjoy your weekend. The weather will be supernice here, so I know I will!

And I feel the way that every child should

Grrr!! I am up 2.8 pounds for the week. I know I didn't make the best food choices so that's where my gain is from. I'm thinking of changing my weigh in day to Friday. That way all the damage that I've done on the weekend doesn't show up so much.

Friday - Ramp It Up
Saturday - off
Sunday - 30 min. elliptical

And that my friends, concludes my first month of consistent exercise!! I have exercised for one month. That feels good to be able to say that. I'm thinking of taking measurements just to see my progress so far. Especially after that gain on the scale, I need some pick-me-up.

This is the longest that I have been working out in a really long time. 6 years to be exact. I am the Queen of the Start and Stop routine. And this is the first time, since 2004, that I have been keeping it up for 4 weeks straight.

I so deserve a pat on the back. =)

Feels like I'm in a race, but I already won 1st place

All of that above is a little less than under 100 calories. Clementines are my new best friend!

I haven't been around because I haven't been doing much. My weigh-in this morning was pretty weak. I have gained 2.2 pounds. Yikes! Not really a good way to start of the New Year.

I know I've said this over and over, but seriously it's time for me to take this weight loss thing seriously. I will not waste another year being overweight. I just can't do it anymore.

I'm going to love this week!

Because it's a 3-day work week. I love the holidays!!

Sunday
Breakfast: slice of pumpkin pie
Lunch: rice, beans, chicharron, steak, arepa, avocado
Dinner: 1 carne asada taco, 1/2 burrito
In-betweens: 1 slice of pumpkin pie, cookies (I forgot how much), arequipe and cheese

No workout

My boyfriend's mom invited her priest over for lunch so that's why there was so much food and little snacks.

I was just too lazy to workout. So I stood in bed with the boyfriend watching Transformers 2 (I love that movie!!).

Pumpkin pie is my Thanksgiving nemesis. I love it way too much. I bought a little pie from Wal-Mart yesterday. The good thing is, it's the only pie we'll have since the boyfriend's family aren't really big pumpkin pie people. So after this little one is done, there will be no more.

Yesterday was my weigh in and I was up 0.8 pounds. Hey, at least it wasn't a whole pound. I am so ready for the scale to go down. I've only lost 5 pounds since August. That's pretty sad and I know I can do WAY better.

Saturday & Sunday

Saturday
Breakfast: Snickers Ice-cream bar, finished off the cookie dough candies
Lunch: Mondongo (the Colombian variety)
Dinner: some more soup
Movie snacks: handful of raisinettes, handful of bacon cheddar chips

Sunday
Breakfast: scrambled egg, toast
Lunch: split chili cheese fries, double steakburger from Steak'n'Shake with the boyfriend, plus a chocolate shake
Dinner: TBD

I should have never had the chocolate shake. I am super full now (and I feel super gross).

Eek! That was a lot of junk food. But that is how my weekends typically go. Must be stronger, must say no to junk food.

Weigh-in was this morning. I am up on the scale (surprise, surprise) but I am still under 260. I have to look on the bright side of things, but it's getting more and more difficult. I think it's time for a Challenge!!

This week's challenge
-Absolutely no junk/fast food during the week
-Eat all planned meals
-Only 1 cheat meal this week (date night with the boyfriend)
-30 minutes on the elliptical...e v e r y day this week.

Do you think I can pull it off???

P.S. I lost a follower =(. I guess my gross eating habits are turn-off. Oh well, whaddaya gon' do?

And it all comes falling down...

Weekend wrap-up
Friday no workout
Saturday 30 mins. elliptical
Sunday no workout

Hmmm....

Last week was a bad week. I'm going over the workouts that I did and I only worked out 3 days last week! 3 days!! That's really bad. And that's why the scale was where it was yesterday morning. 262.6. Yikes!!

It didn't help that I was pretty much eating whatever I wanted. Too many of those oatmeal cookies that I had made(note to self: must not bake anymore). Just really bad eating all around.

Jeepers. I must get a hold on things before they get really out of control and I am where I was 3 weeks ago. I know I haven't lost much weight, but I was starting to get really disciplined with exercising. I just don't want that hard work to go to waste, so I must get a grip on myself. I must, I must, I must!! (I must increase my bust!!) lol

Here's to a good week!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Lovely Tuesday!!

It's an ugly morning (weather-wise) but I'm in such a good mood because I got lots of sleep last night. The wonders a couple of extra hours of sleep could do!!! I'm enjoying it because it doesn't happen much.

The rest of last week's workouts went something like this:
Wednesday 30 min elliptical
Thursday 30 min elliptical
Friday No workout
Saturday 30 min elliptical
Sunday 30 min elliptical

(Can you tell I was getting bored with the Slim in 6 DVD? No worries, because I got it done last night.)

Monday SI6 Ramp It Up

I have to start working on the eating right part because at Sunday's weigh-in I was up 0.6 pounds. I thought I would have lost some because of all the cardio I was doing, but I guess I was cancelling it out with all the caca foods I was eating. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

I have also started thinking about stepping up my workouts to maximize my weight loss. I don't want to wear myself out with trying to do too much as I am just getting consistent with my workouts, but I think I can push myself a little harder. I have to come up with a serious plan of attack.

Caught this movie at the dollar show this past weekend:
I was pleasantly surprised. Movies are so predictable nowadays, but this one had me guessing all the way til' the end. It didn't hurt that Peter Sarsgaard came out in it, either.

Last night, I was feeling crafty so I pulled out my new Euro Pro Dressmaker II sewing machine. I've had it for about a couple of weeks now and I have yet to try it out. By the way, I am not a sewer. Anywho, I could not get the thing to work. Grrr!! I had problems loading the lower thread and the directions weren't very detailed so today I'm on the hunt for some extra help/tips. Either I find some help on-line or it's going back (which it really can't since the Boyfriend threw the box away) (thanks Boyfriend!!).

I'm still here

These past couple of weeks have been an epic fail for me.

I didn't lose any weight for my trip (surprise, surprise). Actually, I'm at the heaviest that I have ever been. The scale read 264 yesterday morning (hangs head in shame). I have done the exact opposite of what I am supposed to be doing, which is eat right and work out. I've been eating like crazy and my elliptical machine and weights are collecting dust. It's frustrating! I have the tools I need, I know what I need to do and yet my little mind cannot grasp the idea of losing weight. This sucks bad!

And there are more stressful and trying times in store for me.

My boyfriend got let go from his job. So now our already suffering budget is going to be suffering even more. I'm happy that I'm going to be taking this little vacation to Los Angeles, but sad to know that everything I need to worry about will be here when I get back.

But things could be a lot worse, so I have that to be thankful for. I have my health, my job, my boyfriend, mi gato, a roof over our heads and food in our tummies. So really I shouldn't be complaining.

I have lots of stuff to do tonight with the packing and the organizing of the room before we leave, but I'm hoping to get at least 30 minutes on the elliptical. My body is craving movement. I feel like an 80 year old woman with all these aches in my bones, joints, and muscles. Not a good feeling. I know some exercise is just what I need.

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Uh oh...

And a HYC update.

So I stepped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh-in. 261.8. Wow. That's the highest I've ever been.

I don't know if it was the soda binge I went on this holiday weekend, all the food I've been eating finally catching up to me, or because I worked with weights last night and my muscles are retaining a crapload of water that put me where I'm at (I'm hoping it's the latter). I have really got to get it together. Because sooner than you know it, it'll be 262, then 265, then 270, until I finally hit 300. Oh my, I'm only 39 pounds from 300. Oy vey!

Yesteday's eating was ok, but there was some things I really shouldn't have eaten.

Breakfast: raisin bran, milk, OJ
Lunch: rice and beans
Snack: orange
Dinner: rice, chicken, potato, plantain

Un-called fors: pack of Knotts Berry Farm Cookies, 2 PB cups, 1 turkey, cheese, and mayo sandwhich

Workout - 25 minutes on the elliptical, weights

Healthy You Challenge Update #3

Again, it's been awhile since I've posted because I've been staying away from weight loss. Silly me let the scale creep back up 0.8 pounds. Not yet where I started, but almost there.

Monday was a pretty good day for me. Foodwise, it was ok. A lot better than what I have been doing. Hey, I just realized I didn't drink any soda. That's a great feat for me since soda pretty much runs through my veins (Coca-cola is life). I was in the pool for a long while swimming and stuff, so that counts for some exercise, right? I also did 15 minutes on the elliptical machine and I did some free weights. Go me!

I wish I had a loss to celebrate but I'm hoping next week I will. I am really going to push myself. It's time to show what I'm really made of. =)

P.S. If you're going to go see Transformers 2, the way to go is IMAX!! Totally worth the extra 5 bucks!

Healthy You Challenge Update #2

It's been a long time. A really long time.

I guess I haven't been posting because I haven't had any victories to post about. The scale was up a bit at yesterday's weigh-in. I really should be grateful for being up only 0.8 pounds. Especially since my eating has been complete rubbish.

I did finally get to working out yesterday. I just had the sudden urge to sweat and grunt on my way home from work yesterday. I completed Day 1 of Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. I L-O-V-E this workout. It's short and straight to the point. How much better can you get than that?

I realized lots of things this weekend. I am just too fat! I ran some errands and I got sooo tired of just walking. My lower back started hurting, too. It's been doing that a lot lately. I'm guessing it's from the weight in the front. Makes me feel OLD. That's not a great feeling at all.

I'm hoping the urge to workout lasts longer than just a couple of days. 3 days is about as long as I can go before I give up. I can't afford to give up this time. It's just too darn hot. The extra weight is making me so darn uncomfortable (this is what it must feel like to be pregnant). And I'm running out of things to wear. =(

Sunday Recap

I really wish the weekend was longer. I could go for another sleeping in day.

Sunday was a better food day.

2 good things:
1) No Fast Food
2) I bought a pint of Haagen Dazs coffee ice-cream (Kroger was having a sale) and did not proceed to scarf down the entire thing...I only had 2 bites from my boyfriend's serving.

It's time to start focusing and acknowledging the positive points in my day, not just the bad ones.

Sunday
No breakfast. Boyfriend doesn't go to work until the afternoon so this is the day we get to sleep in late together. I <3 Sundays.

Lunch: Rice, some kind of meat thing (I have no idea what it's called), egg

Snack
Apple

Dinner
Ajiaco, rice, avocado, aborrajao (plantain)

Other:
2 bites of coffee ice-cream, 1 slice of birthday cake

I don't know why but it always seems like I've eaten way more than I do.

Today's weigh-in - I'm pretty much right where I started (258). But that's OK. I'm committed to doing this and I know I won't be where I'm at for much longer.

Dear Boyfriend,

Thank you for not letting me eat that pizza last night. I hate to admit this, but you were right and I was wrong. I was acting like a spoiled brat. I am grateful that you care and worry about my health so much. Thank you for always looking out for me. Te amo.

Love Always,
Your Girlfriend

A gain on the scale

That title says it all. I was up 1.2 pounds this week. Blah! I ate way too much food this weekend.

Friday

Breakfast: oatmeal and raisins
Lunch: lasagna, broccoli
Snack: apple, Oats and Chocolate bar
Dinner: here's where I went buckwild...Me and the boyfriend went to Hooters to catch the Laker game and I had 3 chicken wings, some steamed shrimp, onion rings, french fries, a strawberry daiquiri and some pepsi

Exercise: 30 minutes on the elliptical

Saturday
Lunch: Met up with the boyfriend while I was out running errands. Split a Chipotle burrito and some chips and guacamole with him. Those burritos are HUGE and so good.
Dinner: Buckwild Day #2...Boyfriend's parents had family over the house this day and we indulged in some empanadas. I had about 5 of them. I drank lots and lots of cans of coke. And to top it off, boyfriend was hungry and asked me to accompany him to get a midnight snack. I obliged and had a Filet o Fish

exercise: 30 minutes on the elliptical

Sunday

Our day to sleep in!
Lunch: scrambled egg, arepa, orange juice
Snack: apple
Dinner: Boyfriend's parents invited us out to eat to celebrate his dad's birthday. We ended up at one of our favorite restaurants - Shogun! Hibachi fried rice, hibachi veggies, hibachi shrimp and chicken, salad with ginger dressing, soup, 2 pcs. California Roll, 2 Shirley Temples, 1 scoop of Rainbow Sherbet...I think I did good with this meal because instead of eating ALL of my meal, I ate only half and saved the other half for Monday's lunch.
Snack: 2 cups of Popcorn...I would have ended up eating the entire bag of popcorn plus a can of coke but I got scolded by Boyfriend =(.

I am really disappointed with my progress this week. But it's not like I really worked hard at trying to lose weight. I need to seriously take some time and think about what it is that I want. I need to focus and COMMIT and no more effing around.
